This page shows some of the equipment, demolition, digging up the asphalt and then moving all the asphalt to the basketball court area where it would be out of the way for construction of the activities so to avoid any delays in case I did not find a method to move the asphalt right away. The asphalt was later loaded onto roll-off dumpsters by local farmers Gary and Lenny Sydnor with a backhoe. Bay Area Disposal provided the dumpsters, trucks and a driver to take nine large loads of asphalt and gravel to Rubble Bee, Inc. for recycling. The removal of the asphalt from the basketball court was one of the last major obstacles that I overcame with this project. It took until June to identify Bay Area Disposal, and local farmers (Gary and Lenny Sydnor) as donors. I went to many businesses during the project duration before I finally found these asphalt removal volunteers.
Below is a Youtube video where I describe the demolition phase of my Eagle Scout Service Project.
Below are pictures of the demolition and removal of the tennis court fence, vines and trees. I was able to recycle and received money which I used for my project from the fence poles, fence, as well as the metal, covers and copper wire that I removed from telephone poles.
Below are pictures of the demolition and removal of the asphalt. I had all the asphalt moved to the basketball court because I did not have someone to move the asphalt to the Rubble Bee recycling location when I started. I finally got Bay Area Disposal and local farmers (Gary and Lenny Syndor) to use their trucks and backhoe to move the asphalt in June. The last pictures show all the asphalt removed from the basketball court.
Below is a burn permit that I coordinated and received from Department of Natural Resources and Health Department, but ended up using other methods to get rid of the vines shown earlier in this section.
